Rather than just shining a light into your mouth to examine it, we’ll instead use a small camera to take high-resolution pictures of your teeth and gums. We can display these images on a monitor right in the treatment room, making it easy for our team to spot any potential problems, particularly in areas of the mouth that are hidden from the naked eye. Your dentist will even go over these images with you so you can always be fully informed about your oral health.
3D cone beam imaging basically allows us to take a CAT scan of just a patient’s head, creating a highly-detailed model of their teeth, jaws, and supporting oral structures. This kind of image also reveals the locations of sensitive nerves and blood vessels, providing much more information than your standard X-ray. We typically use this when planning more involved procedures like dental implant placement. It enables us to ensure the success of the procedure while also guaranteeing patient comfort.
In order to find dental issues that may be hidden below the gum line, we have to take X-rays on a regular basis, which we know causes many patients to feel nervous because of radiation. Thankfully, our digital X-rays emit 90% LESS radiation compared to traditional film, but the advantages don’t stop there. The images also show much more detail, and they take just seconds to develop, helping patients save a tremendous amount of time during their appointments.
Rather than having a patient bite down into a mold to make an impression, we now just scan their teeth using a small device that’s about the size of a pen. In minutes, these scans are input into sophisticated software that pieces them together to form a perfect impression. This process is fast, comfortable, and saves many patients from gagging like with the older method. It also doesn’t require retakes ever!
With our soft tissue laser, we can quickly, precisely, and comfortably treat gum disease without the use of scalpels and sutures like in the past. Now, we simply expose infected gum tissue to a highly-concentrated beam of light. It instantly vaporizes harmful bacteria while leaving the gums themselves completely untouched, making it easy for a patient to stay relaxed while in the chair. We can also use it to perform cosmetic gum lifts to help the teeth appear longer and fuller.
